Rex Milton Kohler Obituary (1927 - 2004)

Rex Kohler PLEASANT VIEW - Rex Milton Kohler, 77, passed away Thursday, May 13, 2004 at his home after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born March 30, 1927 in Providence, Utah to Alfred and Bertha Beutler Kohler. He married Ivy Jean Smith on November 7, 1946 in Corona, California. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan Temple. Rex was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Navy. He was a member of the LDS Church, where he served faithfully in many callings including 1st counselor, and bishop of the Ogden 8th Ward; a member of the high council of the Lorin Farr Stake; and also high priest group leader in the Pleasant View 6th Ward. Rex was the director and a founding member of Citizens Bank and the owner of O and M Plumbing and Heating Co. He enjoyed gardening and being outdoors, but he especially loved spending time with his family. He appreciated a good pocket knife! Surviving are his wife, Ivy Jean Kohler; children, Nolan Kohler, Gary V. (Jodie) Kohler, Julie K. (Daniel) Wright; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Also surviving are three sisters and two brothers, Regina Kohler, Nora Hansen, Bud Kohler, Robert Kohler and Donnette Meacham. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and two sisters, Lavona Hyde, Elda Nelson, Grant Kohler, Datus Kohler, Dean Kohler, and Kay Kohler.
