Rex Vernard Strebel Obituary (1937 - 2016)

Rex Vernard Strebel Rex V. Strebel passed away November 3, 2016. He was born February 9, 1937 in Ogden, Utah the son of Ethel Mae (Linford) and Vernard George Strebel. He graduated from Ben Lomond High School. He served in the Navy from June 1955 to May 1959. Rex married Linda Marie Leatham on August 26, 1959; they were later sealed for eternity in the Ogden Temple on December 3, 1988. she passed away on November 11, 2003. He was a member of the LDS Church where he served as a clerk and then as a Second Counselor in the bishopric. He also served as a home teacher. He retired from Garrett Frieghtliner and Whitehead Electric after many years of service. Rex enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking, guns, golfing, camping and loved watching bull riding and football. His favorite movies were Dances with Wolves and Second Hand Lions! He mainly loved spending time with family and friends. He is survived by his 4 daughters, Tonya Fisher (Brett), Robyn Stevens (Michael), Rexann Smallwood (Duane) and Sandy Barber; 10 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers, Larry and Dale Strebel; best friend, Darrell Strebel. He left behind many close friends and family that he loved very much. A special thanks to Hospice Visiting Angels, especially Bonnie, Stephanie, and Bronte for their loving care. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, November 10, 2016 at Myers Ogden Mortuary, 845 Washington Blvd. A viewing will be held on Wednesday, November 9th from 6 to 8 p.m. and Thursday from 9:30 to 10: 30 a.m. Interment, Washington Heights Memorial Park.
