Rey Duane Baldwin

Lt. Col. Rey Duane Baldwin (Ret.) returned to his Heavenly Father on Friday the 18th of May 2007 while surrounded by his loving wife and family. He was born to Deile and Edith Baldwin of Wellington, Utah on September 21, 1933. He married Anella Rogers on March 26, 1953 and enjoyed 54 years of blissful marriage. Together they raised five boys and they now have 12 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Rey was a faithful servant in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, as he served in many capacities in the ward and stake for many years. He was a decorated Lt. Col. (Ret.) in the US Air Force. He flew C-130's as a typhoon chaser and also in the photo mapping and rescue squadron for many years. Rey enjoyed camping, fishing, and many sports: basketball, tennis and softball. He played softball with his sons and grandsons through the last inning of his life at the age of 73 (whoops) 29 years young. He was a great gardener known for his bountiful tomatoes, beans, and corn, which he shared with everyone for miles around. He taught math and Algebra at Kaysville Jr. High for 11 productive years. He is preceded in death by his son Russell. He is survived by his wife Anella Rogers, sons Ron (Maureen), Lynn (Christy), Wayne (Lisa) and Steven (Heather).

Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 24, 2007 at the Fruit Heights Stake Center, 170 North Mountain Road at 11:00 a.m. There will be a viewing on Wednesday the 23rd at Myers Mortuary, 250 North Fairfield Road, Layton from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Thursday morning at the church from 9:45 to 10:45 prior to services.

Rey has now rounded third and is sliding safe into home! He will be missed!
