Virginia Macavinta Obituary (1927 - 2002)

Virginia G. Macavinta Virginia Macavinta, 75, beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother, left this world gently and quietly on Wednesday, June 19, 2002. She was born January 6, 1927 in Sheridan Wyoming to Jose M. Garcia and Emma Sandoval Garcia. She was the eldest of seven children. She and her family moved to Utah in 1933 where she lived until she met and married Sam Macavinta. They were married January 16, 1944 in Salt Lake City. At the time of her husband's death, they had been married 55 years. Together they raised a family of seven children and instilled into each one of them the importance of love, loyalty and the unity of family. She loved to garden and she adored children. Each new grandchild was "a flower in my own garden." She was a member of the Roman Catholic Church and attended St. Mary's Parish in Ogden. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, two brothers and one sister. She is survived by seven children, Sylvia (Rick) Lenzie of Ogden; Joe (Debby) Macavinta of Corinne; Julie (John) Klick of Ogden; Dolores Macavinta of Ogden; Fran (Alan) Morriss of Perry; Lorri (Bruce) Finch of Layton; Donny (Stacey) Macavinta of Layton; 18 grandchildren; and 14 great grandchildren. Also surviving are three sisters, Mary Mendez of Roy; Helen Singh of Brigham; Lila Naranjo of New Mexico; one brother, Cedric Walks-Over-Ice of Montana; and many nieces and nephews. She will be missed by many. The Macavinta family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff and doctors of McKay-Dee Hospital for their kindness during this sorrowful time.
