Richard H. Favero, a selfless husband, hardworking father, loving grandfather and thoughtful friend, returned with honor into the waiting arms of his loving Heavenly Father after he passed away unexpectedly on Monday, January 16, 2017.
Rick was born February 16, 1948 to Carlo and Gloria Hadley Favero in Ogden, Utah. In his younger years, he attended West Weber Elementary, Wahlquist Junior High, and graduated from Weber High School. Also, he studied accounting and finance at and played football for Weber State. Rick served an honorable LDS mission to Italy. When he returned home, he finished studying at and graduated from Weber State.
He married the love of his life and eternal companion, Andrea Moyes, in the Ogden temple on May 20, 1970. Together they have six children: Amanda, Diane (Jon) Calvert, Laura (J.B.) Haws, Michael (Andrea), Lane (Kristen) and Katie (Michael) Toone. They have lived in Taylor for 43 years and also lived in Rome, Italy for 3 years.
Rick had three loves in his life: his family, the gospel, and his horses. He never missed a chance to attend sporting events and other activities for his children and grandchildren. He was always eager to join the family in playing a quick game of basketball. He loved to bring a smile to the faces of those around him, and could easily brighten a room with his constant optimistic attitude. He kept his Savior close, faithfully attending his church meetings, leading and serving in his church callings, and sharing his testimony with all who would listen.
To all those who knew him, Rick was a kind and selfless person, always willing to lend a hand to someone in need. He served faithfully in many LDS church callings. He was a beloved bishop and stake president, and served as mission president of the Rome, Italy mission for three years. For 17 years, he worked at Moyes Glass. Most recently he worked as an independent insurance broker and also served as a member of the Weber School Board. He also served on the West Weber Cemetery Board and the Hooper Irrigation District.
Rick is survived by his loving wife, Andrea, his three daughters, Diane, Laura, and Katie, his sons, Michael and Lane, and 17 grandchildren. He will be joining many of his loved ones in heaven, including his daughter, Amanda, and his parents Carl and Gloria.
The viewing will be held in Taylor at the Ogden West Stake Center, 4300 W. 2200 S., on Sunday, January 22, 2017 from 6 to 8 p.m. The funeral services will be held on Monday, January 23th, also at the Ogden West Stake Center, at 11:00 a.m. The family will receive friends and family at 9:30 a.m. prior to the services.
