RICHARD S. TICKNOR
"Keeper of the Stars"
WEST POINT - Richard S. Ticknor, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed from this life, on April 25, 2009, at his home, following an eighteen month battle from cancer. He was born on August 18, 1947, in Johnson City, New York, a son of Albert Eugene and Eunice Mercedes Yauger Ticknor. He married Debra Carver, and together they had one son Douglas, and two daughters, Elizabeth and Jennifer. They were later divorced. He then married Mary Taylor in 1995.
He was a Veteran of the United States Air Force. He served his country faithfully for twenty plus years. He was employed for ten years at Hill Air Force Base. His illness forced him to leave his employment, but his fellow workers never gave up hoping that he would be back.
He was an officer of the American Legion Post #134. He loved his friends dearly, and treasured marching in the parade holding the American Flag.
Richard was a perfectionist at any task he took on. His family always knew it would be done perfectly. He was an avid outdoorsman, who loved hunting, camping, fishing, and anything to do with the outdoors. He especially loved his family, and enjoyed the barbecues they had.
He was loved and appreciated by all who got to know him and will be missed by both friends and especially family.
He is survived by his wife, Mary, and his children, Douglas, Elizabeth, and Jennifer, and Mary's five children, 18 grandchildren, with number 19, little Gracie, born early Friday morning. He is also survived by his sister, Joan, his twin brother Don, and brother Carl, who flew out many times from the east coast to be with him.
He was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Jessica.
Graveside services will be held Wednesday, April 29, 2009 at 2:00 p.m., at the West Point Cemetery, 40 North 4000 West, West Point, Utah. Friends and family may call on Wednesday, from 12:00 - 1:40 p.m., at Myers Roy Mortuary 5865 South 1900 West, Roy, Utah.
