During his college years he had his own dance band, called the AAA 1/2Barry-TonesAAA 1/2 that often performed at the Weber State basketball game half time shows.
He taught for many years at Ephraim Middle School and Manti High School before retiring in 1986.
He truly loved the years he spent AAA 1/2with all the noise.AAA 1/2 There were several years that every student enrolled in the school was a member of his band, and would march happily where ever he asked, no matter how far. He could get music out of every student. He would cheerfully conduct the Christmas Candle Light Programs honoring outstanding Sanpete citizens wearing his treasured "Bah Humbug" pin. He devoted his life to instilling the love of music and would have gone to the end of the world for his students.
One of his biggest thrills in his life was getting to dot the "i" while performing with the Ohio State Marching band during a half time performance.
He was a wonderfully caring person and would help anyone, at any time person or animal. His heart was truly as big as he was. He had a love for model trains, and would display them bigger and better every Christmas at his home. Many will remember visiting his home every year to see what new additions he had made.
He enjoyed visiting with friends and family sharing stories and pictures, especially the home teacher visits while living in Ephraim during football season. He never met a stranger and was always willing to share all that he had.
He loved helping students of all kinds, including his Niece's friends, and enjoyed helping her with her school productions.
He also enjoyed woodworking and could make anything you could think of. He was a great story teller and was truly larger than life.
He adored his niece, and was often seen playing Barbie, coloring, playing polly pocket, rehearsing lines and songs or getting his hair and nails done. He spent many days proudly showing off his nail polish. He was always happy to tell of her achievements and always had plenty of photos of her to share.
During his life he has inspired so many. He was the legend that everyone truly thought would live forever.
He always had an upbeat attitude no matter how he was feeling his usual response was AAA 1/2you canAAA 1/2t hurt steelAAA 1/2 or AAA 1/2might as well AAA 1/2 canAAA 1/2t dance.AAA 1/2
