Robert Wilbur Goldsberry Obituary (1938 - 2018)

Robert (Bob) Wilbur Goldsberry passed away unexpectedly on March 20th, 2018 at the age of 79. Born August 20, 1938 in Salt lake City, Utah, Bob grew up in Elko Nevada and graduated from Elko High School. Excelling in basketball and football, he then went on to study accounting at Brigham Young University where he graduated with a Bachelor's Degree. This served him well as he became a Certified Public Account. A National Guard and Army Reserve Veteran, Bob held posts for eight years. Bob worked for Pete Marwick Mitchell as an intern in San Francisco and then opened his own firm; Goldsberry & Associates first in Salt Lake City and then later moving and expanding his business to Farmington, Utah. As Bob's career transitioned to financial planning and brokerage, he held positions with Merrill Lynch and Edward Jones. Recognizing his love for the sun, Bob went on to continue his brokerage career with American Savings in Hawaii. Although semi-retired, Bob and his wife Sharon Goldsberry worked as Disc Jockeys and Lifeguards in Sequim Washington. Sharon and Bob met in Tacoma Washington at a mutual friend's Thanksgiving party. Together for 30 years, they shared many happy memories in Tacoma Washington, Kona Hawaii, Sequim Washington and Saint George Utah, residing in Roy, Utah at the time of his passing, Bob became a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints while attending Brigham Young University. Holding various positions, he had a love for the scriptures and helping others. Bob's passion was contagious as he converted his wife and together they enjoyed sharing the scriptures daily, living by example and teaching those around them. Bob had a passion for sports, the outdoors, good food (especially his wife's homemade meals) and animals; most specially his three cats; Cougar one, two and three. His favorite team, Brigham Young University had a way of polarizing his emotions from a frustrating loss to extreme joy from a hard fought win. He also had a love for trains from a very young age. Growing up as a child of a train dispatcher, Bob loved to watch and listen for the trains wherever he went. Bob often reveled in completing crossword puzzles. So much so he would often do several in a day. The proud and triumphant look on his face each time he finished one, was enough to make the most harden heart smile. Bob is survived by his sweetheart of 30 years, Sharon Goldsberry, and children; Lori (Ryan) Walker, Kaysville Utah, Linda (Bryant) Morgan, Greenfield Massachusetts, Brad (Carol) Goldsberry, Loveland Colorado, Greg (Masami) Goldsberry, Auburn Washington, Cameron (Lindy) Goldsberry, South Ogden Utah, Mia Barkasy and Michelle Monsour, Victoria, British Columbia, Canada. He was also survived by his twenty one grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Springing forward on the first day of spring, Bob had an endless sense of humor and would want those who knew and loved him to share in this thought. The family will be holding a private service on Monday, March 26, 2018 in Kaysville Utah. As a proud contributor of LDS Missions, in lieu of flowers Bob would want a donation made to the LDS Church Missionary Fund.
