Robert Allen Hewitt

OGDENa"On February 5, 2002, Robert Allen Hewitt, Husband, Father and Grandfather, left this world at the age of 72. He died of congestive heart failure, having spent the past six weeks in the hospital as a result of an aortic dissection and its subsequent complications. Although we are all sad to see him go, he suffered much and was ready to return home.

He was born on December 9, 1929, in Ogden, Utah, the only child of Seymour Stewart and Myrtle Bott Hewitt. On August 14, 19623, he married Dawna Washburn in Las Vegas, Nevada.

He grew up in Marriott, Utah, graduating from Weber High School in 1948. He received an Associate's Degree from Weber College in 1951. In February of 1954, he was inducted into the United States Army, serving his country during the Korean War. Upon honorable completion of his military service he returned to Ogden and began working at Hill Air Force Base, from which he retired after 33 years. He was raised a member of the LDS Church.

He enjoyed many of the simple things in lifea"he liked hearing about what his kids were doing, talking to his contemporaries ("old boys") and watching basketball, especially the Los Angeles Lakers. Throughout his life he has always enjoyed his dogs and undoubtedly he has happily reunited with them, especially with Rocky, who was a favorite.

Surviving is his wife, Dawna of Ogden; his son, Jon (Maribeth) of Sandy; his daughter, Lisa of Ogden; and two grandchildren, Kiley and Ross.

He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends with whom he has rejoined and is probably happily reminiscing about old times.

His family would like to thank the many medical personnel at McKay-Dee Hospital who did everything possible to help, not only our Dad, but also our family during this difficult time.
