PERRY - Dad left this world on Sunday, January 29, 2012 after a hard fought battle with problems brought on by aging, with his children at his side.
He was born on May 10, 1925 in a log cabin in Milburn, Wyoming. His mother passed away when he was 2 years old and the family moved to the Washington State area. He started kindergarden in Washington State and later moved to Payette, ID before coming to Ogden, to settle.
Dad served in the United States Navy and was a veteran of World War II. He served on a tanker, the USS Pamanset. He loved to talk about his adventures during the war as his health declined. He was very proud of his military service.
He worked for many years as a manager at Crabtree Auto and Sandy Metal. He later went to work at Hill Air Force Base as a welder retiring from there in 1987.
He was married to Mary Sponsel in Goodland Kansas, seven children came from their union. Mary and he divorced and he married Helen Andreasen in 1974.
Dad loved to fish and hunt. We spent many a weekend up at Bennetts Cabins in Sheepcreek Canyon while fishing at Flaming Gorge. We always caught our limits. Those were some of the best times our family ever had. Dad instilled a love of the great outdoors in all his children.
He was a rabid Utah Jazz fan, we all knew that we had better not call on the phone or bug him while a game was on.
He is survived by his children: Robert (Terry) Kilburn, John (Brenda) Kilburn, Maryann Bolinder, Christine (Parker) Robinson, Michael (Trisha) Kilburn, Roger (Maria) Kilburn, step-son, Reed Andreason, 18 grandchildren, and 26 great-grand-children.
He was preceded in death by his wife Helen, his first wife Mary whom he remained on good terms with. His three sisters, and his son James P. Kilburn.
Our many thanks for the loving care he received from Nurse Wendy and Nurse Lori with Alpine Hospice.
