Robert C. Stenquist

OGDEN - Robert C. Stenquist, 78, died December 16, 2006 in Ogden, Utah surrounded by his family. He was born April 17, 1928 in Tremonton, Utah the eldest son of John Einor and Marjorie Cornwall Stenquist. He married Meril Lyn Smith in 1966 and together they raised five children, they later divorced. He married Gayle Read, Aug 18, 1998 in the Jordan River Temple.

He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and held many callings throughout his life. He was interested in genealogy and family history and volunteered many hours in the Genealogical library doing research. He had a strong testimony of the gospel, especially the importance of families. His greatest joy was spending time and planning activities with his family.

Robert was a veteran of WWII and the Korean War. He played football for Weber State College and while serving in the military (go Army!). He was an avid reader and always had at least one book within arms reach. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing and camping. During his spare time he watched sports, often several different games at the same time, listened to music and perused art galleries. He enjoyed cooking and serving breakfast with church and civic groups.

He is survived by his wife, Gayle; children, Jefri Lyn (Robert) Anderson, Susan Bannon, Annette (Joel) Wendel, Robyn (Marvin) Fielding, Bryan (Christine) Stenquist, R. Shawn Gunnarson, Trent M. (Diana) Gunnarson, Nanette Lowe, Brian (Melissa) Gunnarson, Holly Larsen; 23 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; he has three brothers and two sisters, Leah Conger, Norris (Ann) Stenquist, Shirley (Jerry) Iverson, Delos (Bonnie) Stenquist and Claine (Nanette) Stenquist.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the LDS Church Perpetual Education Fund, or a charity of your choice.
