In Loving Memory of Robert “Bob” Jolley Taggart

Robert “Bob” Jolley Taggart returned to the loving arms of his Heavenly Father on August 31, 2026, following a courageous battle with cancer. He leaves behind a legacy of faith, service, hard work, family, and cherished memories.

Bob married the love of his life, Sandra Jo Nielsen, on September 3, 1969, in the Salt Lake City Temple. Together, they built a life centered on family, faith, service, laughter, and devotion.

Bob loved his Savior and faithfully served in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints throughout his life. As a young man, he served in the North British Mission, England. He and Sandy served together on a Family and Church History mission from December 2002 to November 2003, followed by another mission in Zambia, Africa, from November 2010 to May 2012. Serving others was not simply something Bob did; it was a way of life.

Bob was always working on a project or finding someone he could help. His neighbors could count on seeing him out clearing snow with his tractor or hauling away a “junk” pile with his dump trailer. He loved working hard and was never afraid to get his hands dirty. He especially enjoyed working on the family farm, where he taught his kids the value of hard work through long days of changing sprinkler pipe, hauling hay, and doing whatever needed to be done. These were more than just chores—they were lessons in hard work, perseverance, and taking care of the people and things you love.

Bob had a need for speed. If it had a motor, he was interested—and he wanted it to go fast. An adrenaline junkie at heart, he loved engines, horsepower, the water, and driving his rebuilt 1955 Ford. His enthusiasm for adventure brought energy and joy to those around him.

Bob’s greatest joy was his family. He loved his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren fiercely. Though he could be stern and held high expectations, his arms were always open, and he was always ready to love and forgive. He delighted in giving his grandchildren nicknames and cheering them on in their activities and accomplishments.

Because Sandy loved ballroom dancing, Bob learned to love it too. He even inspired her to take up water skiing. Together, they created treasured family memories traveling to Yellowstone, New York, Yuba Lake, and Lake Mead, as well as enjoying quiet early mornings on the water at Pineview Reservoir (because that’s when the water was glass).

Bob lived with purpose. He worked hard, served faithfully, loved deeply, and showed his love through helping hands, family adventures, encouragement, and unwavering support. His faith in Jesus Christ was the foundation of his life, and his example will live on through the family he loved and all those whose lives he touched.

Though we grieve his passing, we are grateful for his life, his service, his lessons, and his love. We find comfort in knowing that he has returned home to his Heavenly Father and that this is not goodbye, but only a separation until we meet again.

Bob is survived by his loving wife, Sandra Jo Taggart; his children, Jason and Heidi Taggart, Brenda and Jeff Anderson, Kim and Joe Hadley, Ryan and Suzy Taggart, and Brook Taggart; his five siblings; 13 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren, with another great-grandchild on the way.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Nat and Bea Taggart; his brother, John Richard Taggart; and his brother-in-laws, Larry Birch, Marty Friedel, and Roger Seegmiller.

A viewing will be held Friday, September 11, 2026, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at 205 East Elberta Drive. Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 12, 2026, at 12:30 p.m. at the same location. Friends and family may attend a viewing prior to the funeral from 11:00-12:30 p.m.

Interment will take place at Ben Lomond Cemetery. Funeral services will be streamed on Bob’s obituary page at https://myers-mortuary.com/obituaries/robert-taggart-2026, where condolences may also be sent to the family.
