BRIGHAM CITY - Robert James Whitaker, 58, passed away on Wednesday, March 27, 2013 at his home.
Robert was born August 20, 1954 a son of Elmer and Alice Viola Johnson Whitaker.
He moved to Brigham City from Sunset with his Mom and graduated Box Elder High School.
He enjoyed "Digging" - working in his yard, watching the Jazz, football, TV, running his model train set and taking lots of pictures.
He had worked at Hill Air Force Base and received several awards. Rob shared his birthday with his older brother, Vern, and his Grandma Whitaker. He was full of spunk as a kid. Rob broke his leg once and dragged his cast around until it had to be replaced. He has endured many challenges including a Desert Survival Group. Rob was a friend to all and will be missed by many.
Surviving are his three sisters: Nadine Chavez, Temple, TX; LaVerle (Skip) Andersen, Brigham City; VaLinda (Ronald) Jackson, Clearfield; brother-in-law Bob Spencer, Sunset; sister-in-law Linda Whitaker, Roy; several nieces and nephews who were more like siblings, and many others who just loved the old character.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Norene Spencer, brother Vern, brother-in-law Fred Chavez, nephew Tim Chavez, nieces: Tammy Emrich, Teresa and Katy Jo Whitaker.
Funeral Services will be on Friday, April 5, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Myers Mortuary, 205
S. 100 E., Brigham City.
Friends may call on Thursday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and on Friday from 1:00 to 1:45 p.m. at the Mortuary.
Interment will be in the Brigham City Cemetery.
Special thanks to Dr. John C. Christensen and staff, Gerald Lott, Cheryl Bingham, Tracy, and many others who kept him smiling and out of trouble.
