It is with a heavy heart that we share the news of the passing of our beloved Father and Grandfather and Brother as well as Great Grandfather. Rodney Arlo Larkins, known affectionately as Rod, on October 25, 2023. Born on January 4, 1946, in Rupert, Idaho, Rodney later made his home in Ogden, Utah where he lived a full and meaningful life. A reliable and supportive figure in our lives, his dedication to his family was unquestionable, and his compassionate nature touched everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Rodney was a man of many talents, but his greatest gift was his ability to fix anything. He turned this unique skill and his greatest achievement to serving his country in the army and later serving a fulfilling career as a head maintenance engineer for the Ogden City parks department, where he retired after many years of dedicated service. His work spanned across the Golden Hours Senior Citizen Center, Marshal White Center, and Lorin Farr Swim Pool. Rodney's passion for his work was evident in the pride he took in maintaining these beloved community spaces, contributing to the joy and safety of his fellow Ogden residents.
In his free time, Rodney found great joy in his work. He was a talented decorator, especially for holidays, and loved working in his yard. His dedication to creating beautiful spaces was not limited to his work; his own yard was a testament. He could often be found playing solitaire on his computer, a pastime that brought him much comfort and relaxation. As author Robert Brault once said, "Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things." Rodney truly enjoyed the little things in life, and his joy was infectious.
Rodney's legacy is carried on by his devoted daughters Debora, April, and loving sons Russell, Wayne and Tim, As well as his adoring grandchildren and Great Grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Larkins, and mother, Jean Tolton as well as his son Earnie Above all, Rodney was a dedicated family man, it was his dedication to us that defined his life. His love, his wisdom, and his kindness will forever be etched in our hearts.
We invite everyone whose lives were touched by Rodney to share their memories, stories, and photos on his memorial page. Your contributions will help us celebrate and remember the remarkable life of our beloved Rodney.
