Rolf "Bob" Robert Lenthe Obituary (1944 - 2013)

Rolf Robert Lenthe "Bob" Bob Lenthe, 68, passed away peacefully on September 28, 2013 surrounded by his family after a courageous 12 month battle with Leukemia. Bob was born in Gottingen, Germany to Fritz and Elfriede Lenthe. He came to the U.S. when he was 9 years old, first residing in New York. He honorably served in the U.S. Army for 4 years and while stationed in Germany, he met the love of his life, Evi. They were married for 46 years and were blessed with two children and five grandchildren. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather (Opa) and brother. He enjoyed vacationing with his family and was an avid sports fan making it to every game, rain or shine, cheering on his children and grandchildren. We will all dearly miss his sideline commentary. He was genuinely the most unselfish, kind and optimistic person who always found the positive aspects of life even during his fight over this past year. Bob retired from Jetway JBT AeroTech after working with this company for over 42 years. He was exceptionally knowledgeable and highly respected in his field of specialty. He had the opportunity to travel all over the world and loved the experiences it gave him. Bob knew how to build, fix or repair just about anything and was always the first one to offer his help when it was needed. His main focus was always his family and making sure they were taken care of and happy. He was a man full of love, patience, gratitude and courage. He is survived by his loving wife, Evi; his son, Mark (Shannon) Lenthe; his daughter, Christine (Sol) Sallos; his grandchildren, Jakob, Jaden, Leonidas, Isabella and Alexandria; six brothers, Dieter, Heiko, Frank, Darcy, Eugene and Billy. He was preceded in death by his parents, Fritz and Elfriede. We will miss his sense of humor, his kind words, his cheerful voice and his wonderful example on how to enjoy and appreciate life. In keeping with Bob's optimism, his family will have a celebration of his life with family and close friends.
