Ronald E. Child

Ronald E. Child, 55, passed away from natural causes on Monday, January 29th, 2007 at his home in Clinton.

Ronnie was born June 12, 1951 in Ogden, Utah, the son of Charles P. and Leola Christensen Child of Hooper, Utah.

Ronnie spent his childhood enjoying fishing in Duchesne, and later went on to become a celebrated baseball player affectionately known as 'Lumpy' before he graduated from Roy High in 1969.

In 1971, Ronnie went to serve his country's call in Vietnam with the U.S. Army. After two years, he received an Honorable Discharge and returned home a decorated soldier.

He married Jill Mitchell in 1974 and began his civil service career at Hill Air Force Base. After 27 years of dedicated service, he retired in 2001.

The friend who could always be counted on, the dad who always had the right advice, and the grandpa who delighted in making his grandchildren giggle for hours on end; his generosity and humor will be greatly missed, remembered, and cherished by all who knew him.
Feeling his loss is his father, Charles P. Child of Hooper; his sisters, LaRae (Lyle) Peterson of Roy; Linda Larkin of West Weber; his sons Kurt Child of Riverdale; and Corey (Natasha) Child of Washington Terrace; and his grandchildren Clarissa, Mitchell, Kaden, Calvin, and Ciara "Tinkerbell" Child.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Leola, and his grandparents.

Funeral services will be held Friday, February 2, 2007 at 1:30 p.m. at Myers Mortuary in Roy, 5865 South 1900 West. Friends may call on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. and on Friday from 12:15 to 1:15 p.m. prior to services.
Interment, Hooper Cemetery.
