Ronde Workman Smith Obituary (1924 - 2011)

Ronde Workman Smith ROY - Ronde Workman Smith, 87, passed away Monday, October 17, 2011 of causes incident to age. He was born October 4, 1924 in Lewiston, Utah to Alma Borman Smith and Phyllis Workman Smith, both are now deceased. He graduated from North Cache High School in 1942 and from Stevens Henager School of Business in 1959. He was a veteran serving in the US Air Force and Army from 1943 to 1949 and again in 1951 to 1952. Ronde married Beverly Swainston June 6, 1945 in the Logan LDS Temple. She passed away in 1996, they were together for 52 years. He was a member of the LDS Church and served until he could no longer serve the positions were as follows: a first counselor, High Priest Leader, Ward Clerk, Finance Clerk, and Home Teacher, sang with the Church Choir and the Community Choir and supported his son Douglas on his mission to Japan. He worked for the Army and Air Force Exchange service as an Accountant and Internal Auditor for 30 years. He traveled extensively with this job and enjoyed it very much. Ronde grew up in the small town of Lewiston, Utah. He moved to Salinas, CA to begin his new job and later to Union City and worked out of San Francisco, and lived many years in California then his job took him to Tucson, AZ. After retiring in 1993 he moved back to Utah where he called home and became and avid golfer and served on the board of Country Meadows Mobile Home estates for many years. He will be greatly missed but will be happy to be with those who have gone before. He was preceded in death by his brother Borman W. Smith(Venna deceased). He is survived by his children: Julie Naisbitt, Douglas R. (Connie) Smith, Peggy Shaffer (Lonnie deceased). He is also survived by his Brothers and Sisters Edward (Ted) (Juanita) Smith, Richard A (Ann) Smith, sisters, Pauline Bryner (Harold) both deceased, Joyce Gilbert (Dallas), Shirleen (Dale) Traveler and Hazel Smith. Also surviving grandchildren, Casey (Craig) Edsinger, Tori (Kenneth) Ledbetter, Jack Smith, Russell Smith, Crissey Smith, Anna Smith, Robin Shaffer, Shannon Shaffer and several great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Friday, October 21, 2011 at 10 a.m. at Myers Roy Mortuary, 5865 South 1900 West, Roy. A gathering for friends will be held Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Friday from 9:00 to 9:50 a.m. prior to services. Interment, Lewiston City Cemetery.
