OGDEN - Ruby Martin Stone Burks, 87, died August 31, 2008 in West Valley City, Utah. She was born February 15, 1921 in Benhill County, Georgia the daughter of Willie and Mary Ward Martin. She married Clarence W. Stone on September 1, 1937; he later died. She married Isaac Burks in 1961; he preceded her in death Jan. 7, 2008.

Ruby grew up in Birmingham, AL, moved to Atlanta, GA and later to Ogden, UT. She graduated high school in Atlanta, GA and attended Steven Henager College where she studied Business.

She was a member of the Methodist Church and loved serving her church. Ruby loved cooking and was an excellent cook; she enjoyed fishing and baseball. In the millinery field "she made beautiful hats". But her children were her greatest accomplishment!

She is survived by her children Clarence Stone of Ogden, Gloria Stone of Ogden, William "Bill" (Betty) Stone of West Valley City; 9 grandchildren and a host of great-grandchildren, family and friends. She is also survived by her sister Catherine Nobel.

She was preceded in death by her husbands; her daughter Annie Laura Stone and a grandson.

The family would like to thank Rocky Mountain Care Center and Hospice for the love and compassion provided to Ruby and her family.

Funeral services will be held Friday, September 5, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. at Myers Mortuary, 845 Washington Blvd., Ogden. Friends may call on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m.

Interment, Myers Evergreen Memorial Park.
