Rulon Lee Twitchell Obituary (1935 - 2016)

Rulon Lee Twitchell, 80 recording. North Ogden. Our beloved husband, father, and grandfather, Rulon Lee Twitchell, was called home on June 18, 2016. He was born on October 12, 1935 in Lyman, Wyoming to Frank and Myrtle Bradshaw Twitchell. He married Afton Tingey on May 27, 1959 in the Salt Lake Temple. They have been sweethearts for 57 years. He graduated from Lyman High School and Brigham Young University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree. He was a Division Chief over processing at the IRS. He retired in 1994 after 34 years of service. He was VP of Lake Bonneville Council of the Boy Scouts and involved with Utah Sons of Pioneers. He enjoyed golfing, BYU Athletics, and gardening, but most of all he considered his greatest joy to be his family. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. His lifelong service in the Church included four missions. As a young man, he served in the Netherlands. Later in life, he and Afton served together in the Toronto West Mission, the Nauvoo Temple Mission, and the Mormon Trail Center/Winter Quarters Mission. He had many callings in the Church, including serving as Bishop, Stake President, and Patriarch. He served as a member of the temple presidency and sealer in the Ogden LDS Temple. He is survived by his wife, his children; Deven L. (Linell) Twitchell, Denise (Doug) Aagard, DeAnn (Bret) Oborn, Valerie (Shad) Satterthwaite, Cheryl (David) Johnson, and Brent R. (Crystal) Twitchell; his brother, Jerry Twitchell; three sisters; Valeene Field, Jean Bluemel, and Ann Turner, and 22 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and four sisters. Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 25, 2016, at North Ogden 16th Ward, 205 E Elberta Dr., North Ogden.
