RUSSELL JOEL KEOPPEL

ROYa"Russell Joel Keoppel, 77, died on October 29, 2003 in the arms of his wife and children after a seven-month battle with cancer.

Russ was born on November 16, 1925, in Logan, Utah, a son of Phillip and Annie Nelson Keoppel. He was raised in Logan and Ogden and spent the last 43 years in Roy.

Russ married his true love, Deneese Colvin Keoppel, on June 23, 1950. The marriage was solemnized in the Logan Temple on June 23, 1967. They were parents of three sons and a daughter.

He was a veteran of World War II serving with the US Navy. Russ was in the battle of Iwo Jima, Okinawa, and the occupation of Japan where the Japanese surrendered.

After the war Russ worked at the Defense Depot Ogden maintaining and repairing equipment for the Army. He retired in 1983 after 40 years of Federal service.

Russ and his wife were extensive travelers and enjoyed visiting each of the 50 United States. They enjoyed cruising and went on several cruises together.

Russ is survived by his wife and children, Paul (Pam) Keoppel, Jean Wright and Kent (Penny) Keoppel. Sister, Dorothy Campbell; brothers, Ralph (Janet) Keoppel, George Keoppel and Clyde Keoppel; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his son, Dale Keoppel, parents and a brother, Archie Keoppel.

His greatest joy in life was his grandchildren and pets. You could always find grandpa with a child or pet in his arms.
