Ruth Brown

LAYTON - Our loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, and friend, Ruth Frances Havens Brown, passed away April 12, 2003, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born November 25, 1921, in Hornell, New York, to Henry and Mary Havens. She married Roy S. Brown on February 10, 1946. They moved to Layton, Utah, in 1962.

She leaves behind her husband Roy; her son Robert, his wife Pamela and their children Heather and Lisa of Fresno, California; her son Richard of South Ogden and his children Melissa and Brian of Layton, Utah; her great grandchildren Ashton and Hayley of Las Vegas, Nevada, and her sister Geraldine Havens of Gibsonton, Florida. She was preceded in death by her son Roy, grandson Travis, her parents, and her sister Virginia Soneski.

She served in the 169th Women's Army Corps Company during WWII as a telephone operator in Earls Cohne, England where she met Roy. She later worked as a Supply Supervisor at Hill Air Force Base retiring in 1985. Her husband, children, and grandchildren were her life; they brought her so much joy. She was a gentle, loving, and very caring person who always placed the needs of family and friends before her own. There was nothing you asked of her she would not do. She gave fully of herself in everything she did.
