Ruth D. Busche, age 90, of Roy, Utah died Monday Sept. 16, 2013 of congestive heart failure.
She was born Mar. 20, 1923, in Ogden, the only daughter of Walter J. and Mary Myrtle Leavitt Douglas. Ruth grew up in the Five Points area of Ogden with her five brothers, Clyde, Bill, Don, Keith, and Grant.
She married Wendell Dee McDonald on Nov. 22, 1944. They had two sons, Douglas Dee, born in 1946 and Larry Gene, born in 1949. Dee passed away on July 4, 1959. On July 24, 1960 she married Rienhardt (Ron) A. Busche. Ron died on Sept. 12, 1983.
Ruth attended Ogden City Schools graduating from Ogden High in 1940. She also attended Merritt Business School in Oakland Ca. She worked for Parke's Packing, Union Pacific Railroad, Bon Marche, and the Ogden Arsenal. She retired from Defense Depot Ogden in 1973 with 28 years of service.
Ruth was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
She loved to camp at the Eagles in Ogden Canyon, fish with her brothers, and was an avid bowler and card player. She also enjoyed traveling with her friends and, the No. Utah Golden Spikers chapter of the Good Sam's Club. And, of course, she was a JAZZ fanatic!
Ruth enjoyed sewing for herself and her granddaughters and spent many hours crocheting and quilting with members of the Eagles Auxiliary #2472 providing blankets and afghans for the homeless shelters and many other charities in Ogden.
Surviving are her sons, Douglas D. (Ann) McDonald, Honeyville, and Larry G. McDonald, Roy; three grandchildren, Karie Ann (Donnie) Weaver, Kara Dee Harmon, and Ryan Dee (Kimberly) McDonald, and five great-grandchildren; her step children, Rick M (Barbara)Busche, Layton, and Adele V (Steven) Greenleaf, Ogden, and their families. Also surviving is her brother, Keith Douglas, of No. Ogden.
Graveside Services will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 24 at 11AM in the Ogden City Cemetery.
