February 1, 1922 welcomed the arrival of Ruth Wade to Myron Edward Wade and Ina Rosetta Stratford Wade of Warren, Utah. Ruth grew up in Warren with her parents and older brother Clyde. In 1942, she married the love of her life, Ellis Butler, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They first lived in Ogden Utah, then Kuna and Nampa, Idaho, and then Harrisville, Utah. They recently celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary.

Ruth was an active member of the LDS Church. She held several ward and stake callings in Primary, Relief Society, and music. She and Ellis served a mission together in the Family History Library in SLC. They served a stake mission and a name extraction mission together and also served in the Ogden Temple.

Both she and Ellis loved to sing. Their voices blended beautifully as they sang at many functions.

Ruth was a wonderful mother while patiently raising 6 children. She was a wonderful example to them of how to live the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Ruth is survived by her husband, Ellis Butler, and their children, Kathy Coppin (Dave), Marilyn Jacobson (Larry), Wade Butler, Paul Butler (Jeanine), Eileen Nay, and Scott Butler (Helen). She and Ellis were blessed with 27 grandchildren and more than 65 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, brother Clyde Wade, son-in-law Blaine Nay and granddaughter Melissa Chapman.

Ruth passed away on Dec. 16, 2012 of natural causes.

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 20, 2012 at Myers Ogden Mortuary, 845 Washington Blvd. Friends may call on Wednesday, Dec. 19th from 6 to 8 p.m. and Thursday, from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. Interment will be at the Ben Lomond Cemetery in North Ogden.
