Ruth Olive Hadley Obituary (1923 - 2012)

Ruth Olive Johnston Hadley Ruth Olive Johnston Hadley, 88, our beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother and grandma-great passed away Thursday, April 12, 2012 at her home in South Ogden. She was born December 9, 1923 in Hooper, Utah to Henry Pinney & Alta Clarinda Beus Johnston. She grew up in Hooper and graduated from Weber High School in 1941. While at Hooper Jr. High School she met her future husband, Carl D. Hadley. Dad thought she was a terrific tap dancer. They fell in love dancing together at Weber High School and at the weekly dances at Hooper Dance Hall. That led to their marriage in the Salt Lake Temple on August 17, 1942. They shared 62 years of dancing, loving, serving and raising their five children. While raising her children she worked outside the home at DDO and H.A.F.B. until her retirement. Ruth was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She served in many positions. With her husband Carl they had the opportunity to share their talents with people of all ages as dance directors in many wards, stakes, and regions. They also served on the MIA General Board. She was always there giving love and support to others especially her family. She loved to sew, creating beautiful dresses for her daughters for all occasions. Through the years she made many dance costumes for other people as well. She along with her daughter, Nadine, took care of Carl through his prolonged illness. Nadine has continued to care for Ruth with the utmost love and attention anyone could offer since Carl passed on. Wherever mom went people recognized her by her distinctive and elegant style as well as her passion for purple. Ruth is survived by her children, RaNae (Dan) Harrop, North Ogden; Nadine Hanson, South Ogden; Michael J. (Stephanie) Hadley, Peoria AZ; Christine (Michael) Norseth, North Ogden; Jill (Gaynard) Linsley, North Ogden; 15 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. She is also survived by her dear, dear sisters, Nola Nagel and Beverly (Bill) Sessions; sisters-in-law Eleanor Johnston and Joan Schultz; brothers-in-law Roland (Murna) Hadley and Gordon (Maxine) Hadley. She was preceded in death by her husband Carl, infant son Dennis Carl Hadley; one grandson, Darin Keith Norseth; parents Henry and Alta; brothers, Ezra Beus Johnston and Lynn Beus Johnston; and brother-in-law, Aage Nagel. Many thanks to her extraordinary physician N. Brent Williams, her spiritual support Bishop William Sheffield and her daily reminder of the good things in life special friend Afton Van Kampen.
