West Jordan, Utah
Our amazing daughter, Big Seester and loving friend, Sharlee Marie Folkman passed away unexpectedly at her home in West Jordan Utah. Sharlee was born April 25th, 1981 to Mother, Robbyn Peterson Folkman and Father, Ken G. Folkman Sr. at McKay Dee Hospital. Sharlee attended Lynn Elementary, Mound Fort Middle School and graduated from Ben Lomond High School class of 1999.
Sharlee's smile and goofy laugh mixed with her even goofier personality all matched so perfectly together that they would light up every room, hallway, trail, lake, campground or wherever their current and most recent adventure would be. Shar loved animals more than ANYTHING in the world, especially her dog Maddie. Those two were inseparable and definitely a one of a kind pair that matched together so perfectly that only they could tame/train the dark places in each other which then came with their own set of attitudes and problems themselves.
Shar loved her life and everything in it. Shar grew up playing sports like soccer, softball, basketball, and even threw the javelin on the track team in high school. She loved saving homeless cats from her work and with the help of management it ended happily, when she found a new home for the the cat. Shar loved every living thing out there, she even had special squirrels, hummingbirds and we cant forget her most special one of all which would be her wild ducks that always stopped by for a bite to eat with her. It didn’t matter what kind of wildlife appeared in her front yard, she would go FAR out of her way to get just the right food for each different animal she had out there. But the one thing that made Shar complete more than ANYTHING, is her dog Maddie. They loved hiking, camping, fishing and anything else outdoors. Just as long as her best friend Maddie was by her side, she was complete.
Shars love for music started in middle school, where she played the saxophone which led to her owning and playing the guitar all the way until her most recent interest, a drum set. Sharlee also enjoyed working on her own vehicles which led to her getting a parts delivery job at AutoZone in Ogden where she worked for a number of years until she packed up her bags and and left Ogden to work down south in West Jordan, Utah. There she got an even better job that she LOVED. She worked at UTA in Salt lake City as a line tech, doing everything from fixing train switches for the Trax train signals up to the most recent position which was a mechanic. There she fixed and worked on all types of different vehicles from buses to trains and everything in between.
Shar is survived by her parents Ken and Robbyn Folkman, and her brothers Colton and Kenny. She was was preceded in death by Britton Marshall Folkman (Peanut).
It didn’t matter how hard of a day she was having, she would always have that huge smile on her face and her amazing laugh on standby just waiting to light up your day. She was so caring and loving that she would donate blood as often as she was allowed to, and never stopped advocating for others to follow her example. We hope Shar's life and journey will inspire compassion and greater understanding for those facing challenges with mental health and addiction. Above all we wish for Shar to be remembered for the person they were, the love they gave, and the memories they leave behind.
