Shelli Maureen Martin Obituary (1960 - 2008)

Shelli Maureen Martin OGDEN - Our cherished partner, mother, grandmother, daughter and friend; Shelli Maureen Martin, 47, passed away Saturday, January 5, 2008 after a two year battle with Colon cancer. She was born and raised in Sumner, Washington a daughter of Dorothy and Ben Martin. Shelli had quick wit, a wonderful sense of humor, and "absolutely" loved to laugh. Shelli enjoyed being in the spotlight and putting a smile on her friend's faces. Shelli's life was extra-ordinary and eventful. Shelli's greatest love and accomplishment was being a mother. Shelli graduated from Weber State University with an Associate's Degree in Criminal Justice and from Peace Officer Standards & Training. She quickly achieved the rank of Sgt. with Weber County Sheriff's Department. Shelli has dedicated and honored the Sheriff's Department for the last 12 years. She loved her various positions and the people she worked with. Shelli is survived by the love of her life and partner Kristy F. Martin; her mother Dorothy (Phillip) Rowe, St. George, UT; children Josef (Shannon) Flurer, Tucson, AZ, Beki (Matt) Seely, CA and Carson and Addison Martin of Ogden, UT. She is also survived by her brother West (Christi) Martin, St. George and sister Tana (Randy) Page, Provo, UT; and mother and father-in-law Susan and Larry Fukunaga, Layton. Shelli was preceded in death by her father Ben Martin; sister-in-law Laurie Martin and grandparents. A Gathering of Friends, to celebrate Shelli's life, will be held Tuesday, January 8th at Myers Mortuary, 845 Washington Blvd., Ogden from 6 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers the family suggests a donation to the American Cancer Society on Shelli's behalf.
