Todd Bergeson Obituary (1958 - 2016)

Shelton Todd Bergeson recording. Our beloved dad, grandpa, brother and friend, Shelton Todd Bergeson, returned to his Father in Heaven Wednesday August 10, 2016 after a courageous battle with cancer. He leaves behind a legacy of strength and service that none will soon forget. Todd was born November 7th, 1958 in Logan, UT to Marsha and Shelton Bergeson. Todd's family spent his early years in St. George, UT and he never got that red sand out of his shoes. He always had a love for southern Utah and often shared memorable stories of the amazing times he had there. He graduated from Teton High School in Driggs, ID in 1977. He then attended Utah State University as well as Utah Valley Community College. Todd was married to Linda Hartshorn on July 31st, 1979 and they had four beautiful daughters that graced their life and kept them busy and happy. Todd made his early career in commercial and residential construction and later utilized those skills to build a beautiful home for his family. He had worked many years at Autoliv before moving on to SMC Corporation for the last 10 years prior to falling ill. He loved his work colleagues and those he associated with in his work. Todd had a servant's heart and would help his family and neighbors with building projects, work on their homes and literally could fix anything. He also volunteered in many scouting callings through the years and enjoyed serving in that capacity. Todd was rooted in his LDS faith and had a strong testimony of the church and worked hard to embrace its teachings. Early on in life, Todd had learned the value of a hard day's work and was never afraid to get his hands dirty and get things done. He was a green thumb and grew beautiful gardens and took much pride in his yard, it was always trimmed and full of flowers. Todd had a true passion for all things outdoors, skiing and hiking were at the top of his list. He was a ski instructor at Grand Targhee as a young man and later had the opportunity to volunteer for the 2002 Winter Olympics and Paralympics and he was so grateful for that experience. He realized one of his lifelong dreams in 1997 when he summited the Grand Teton. The mountains were "home" for Todd and provided peace in his heart when things got tough. Todd was a supportive and loving dad and grandpa to his 4 daughters and his 10 grandchildren. He could often be found cheering them on from the sidelines of sporting events or attending piano and dance recitals. When he spoke of his children and grandchildren, he beamed with pride. Todd is survived by his children: Alyssa (Greg) Braegger, Bridget (Brandon) Goldsberry, Caramie (Matt) Toyn, Riley (Kelly) White. His grandchildren: Tegunn, Trey and Tayah Braegger; Braylie, Jada, and Berlin Goldsberry; Hadlee, Cora, Ayzlie and Benson Toyn. His siblings: Blaine, Larry, Brenda, Chris, Paul, Bill and MaShel. Todd was preceded in death by his loving parents Marsha and Shelton Bergeson. The family would like to thank the nurses from CNS Home Health & Hospice in Ogden, UT for the genuine love and compassion they showed to Todd for the past two years. Funeral services will be on Monday, August 15, 2016, at 11 a.m. at the North Ogden 4th Ward, 1791 N 600 E, Ogden. A viewing will be held on Sunday, August 14, 2016 at Myers Mortuary, 845 Washington Blvd., Ogden, from 6 to 8 p.m. and prior to services from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church. Interment, Groveland Cemetery, Blackfoot, Idaho at 4:00 on Monday.
