Sherrie Colleen Snell Obituary (1936 - 2017)

Sherrie Colleen Snell passed away on April 21, 2017. She was 80 years golden. She worked at the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) for a time, as a tax auditor. At home, she helped prepare taxes for family and friends. After leaving the IRS, she then went on to work at Teledyne National until it went out of business. During which time, she was heavily involved in politics helping many campaigns, She was a true democrat through and through. Sherrie had a brilliant mind. Anyone could ask her how to spell a word, what the definition was and how it was used in a sentence. She would always know the answer, practically a walking dictionary. Sherrie loved the holidays, when Easter would come around, she would "help" the Easter bunny by writing little clues to help her children find the eggs. She was also a wonderful cook making the best thanksgiving dinner ever. Christmas was filled with the lights and warmth. Sherrie was always there to help her daughters when she could and as best as she could. She was an accomplished seamstress, making her children's clothing when times were tough. She also loved making quilts, pillowcases and baby blankets. Sherrie's favorite pass time was camping and she could "out camp" the best of them, from her homemade clorox bottle handwashing gizmo, to the morning eggs, bacon and sourdough pancakes. She loved long scenic drives. Even driving from the Kentucky fried chicken in Roy, all the way to Jackson Hole Wyoming. Just to eat the meal. It was cold but well worth the drive. Sherrie loved animals, anytime there was a lost dog or cat in need of rescuing she was there. Mom, you are at peace now, walking side by side, with your best friend Dona Gardner, and your father Leonard James Russell, towards your mother Emma Russell, and Jesus. We love you and miss you already. "Nothing Gold Can Stay" Natures first green is gold, her hardest hue to hold, her early leaf's a flower, but only so an hour. Then the leaf subsides to leaf, so Eden sank to grief, so dawn goes down to day, nothing gold can stay. Sherrie is preceded in death by, her best friend Dona (Sterling) Gardner. Her parents, Leonard James Russell and Emma Caroline Russell. She is survived her daughters; Melodie (Kirt) Barrows, Tammi Lynn Johnson, Lori (Ron) DeGrout and Heather Jean Nielson. She leaves behind 11 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren.
