Shirlee M Teeples

–

Sunset, Utah

Shirlee Murray Teeples started her last and her greatest adventure in her passing on Tuesday, August 8th, 2023, from a long struggle with cancer. She was born February 11, 1934, to Henry Bailey and Mary Darley Murray in Wellsville, Utah.
She was the youngest of seven children. While growing up, Shirlee loved working hard on the family dairy farm in Wellsville. She spoke fondly of the summer hay crop needed to feed the cows, the sugar beets, thinning, hoeing, and topping, all which gave the family money for the winter. At 16-years old while her brothers were off to war, and her two older sisters were married, she had the responsibility of helping her dad with the milking of the jersey cows to include washing all the equipment twice a day. This taught her to be hard working and to do a job right!
Shirlee graduated from South Cache High School in 1952 and married Eldon Taft Teeples from Bicknell, Utah on June 2, 1952. Together they played golf, bowled on Friday nights, had many adventures traveling, and especially enjoyed wintering at Fisher's Landing, Arizona. Eldon passed away on July 4th, 2007.
Shirlee loved her family. One of her greatest joys was supporting her grandchildren and great grandchildren in their sports, drill, dance recitals, choir concerts and plays. She loved RV'ing, golfing and most of all seeing what was around the next bend. She collected many treasures and learned to paint while in Arizona. She especially loved adventures (never met one she didn't love).
Shirlee loved traveling with her family to exciting places such as Italy, Florida, Maryland, Philadelphia, Oregon Coast and Las Vegas. One of her favorite trips was with her sister Anna to Branson Missouri shortly before Anna passed away.
Shirlee loved the Utah Jazz, and the NBA and she could quote any statistic for any Jazz player since the Jazz came to Utah in 1979. At one point she had season tickets to cheer on her beloved Jazz; she did not miss a game.
Shirlee retired in 1994 as a Quality Assurance Specialist working for the Defense Contracting Agency (DCA). She was the first woman Quality Assurance Specialist hired by the DCA, and the first woman to work on the Patriot Missile System.
She is survived by her three children, Kathy Lamond, West Point Utah, Kelly (David) Webster, Farmington Utah, and Scott (Cindy) Teeples, Clinton Utah, 11 grandchildren and spouses and 27 great grandchildren. Great granddaughter Michaela King preceded her in death December 2022. She is also survived by two sister-in-law's, Myrna (Dean) Behunin, Payson, Utah, and Shirley (Carl) Shepherd, Benjamin, Utah.
Those who preceded her in death are her siblings Boyd (Martha Claire) Murray, Pauline (Conway) Peart, Oral (Bonnie) Murray and his twin Carl Murray who died at birth, John (Rena) Murray, and Anna (JD) Whitehead. Shirlee's in-laws, Howard and Myrtle Taft Teeples, and her husband's deceased siblings Leland (Ludean) Teeples, and Phyllis (Morris) Ercanbrack.
Shirlee wished all to know she appreciated all the support, rides to doctors/chemo appointments, help with the house and yard, and the care given to her through her cancer struggle. Thank you to her great friends for all the fun trips and laughing at all her jokes! Shirlee prided herself on being able to keep her brain sharp, her humor strong and her optimism high through everything she has been through. Much love to Laraine White and family!
Special appreciation to Shirlee's neighbors Heidi Doyle and Shirley and Tony Maez for all their care and concern and yummy treats!
The family expresses deep appreciation for the staff at Applegate Homecare and Hospice, and the staff at the Beehive House of Syracuse for caring for Mom. What a blessing you were to us. "Thanks to my kids for everything! And special thanks to my Erickson family, for adopting me and being there for me every step of the way since Grandpa passed."
