Shirleen Cash Hamilton Obituary (1936 - 2007)

Our dear sweet mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend passed away peacefully at her home on November 15th 2007. She was born January 19, 1936 in Tremonton, Utah. The daughter of Vertress Warren Cash and Christina Marie (Means) Cash. Shirleen was married in 1950 and later divorced in 1959. During that time she had four children. On December 28, 1966 she married Lyle S. Hamilton. Their marriage was later solemnized in the LDS Ogden Temple August 13, 1996. Lyle brought six children to this union and together they raised a wonderful family. Shirleen and Lyle also adopted a daughter with special needs, Denise Vaughn, who they loved dearly. Most of their married years were spent in Brigham City, Utah where Shirleen retired from the Southern Pacific (SP/OUR&D railroad after 20 years of employment. Lyle and Shirleen retired to Mesquite, Nevada in 1997 where they made many dear friends and enjoyed many family reunions with their children in the Nevada sun. Shirleen enjoyed genealogy, sewing ceramics, embroidery, crafts, reading, scrap booking, outdoor sports, dancing and acting. She also had a passion for her church callings, which included dramatic skits, relief society... and her love,... compassionate service to those in need at the 4th Ward in Brigham City. She enjoyed many beloved friends and was an inspiring influence on her journey through life. Shirleen had a wonderful sense of humor and created fun wherever she went. She embraced life just like the lyrics of the song "I HOPE YOU DANCE". Surviving are her children; Val Ann (Ralph) Tappan, Brigham City, UT; Kevin T. (Lori) Kidd, Roy, UT; Gayda Sneddon, Mesquite, NV; Steven C. (Cindy) Hamilton, Gardnerville, NV; Clare Ann (Rolf) Probst, Woodland, CA; Mark L. Hamilton, Los Angeles, CA; Gail Sue (Steve) Deal, Gold Beach, OR; Jeffrey D. (Paula) Hamilton, Clovis, CA; 18 grandchildren, 16 great grand children and one on the way, one sister, Lela Mae (Keith) Wright, Delco, ID; and one brother, Ira D. (Lona) Cash, Boise, ID; one sister-in-law, Valerie Hirning, Fresno, CA; and one brother-in-law, Max (Jeanne) Hamilton, Perry, UT. Shirleen was preceded in death by her husband, two sons, Arlen W. Kidd and Kenneth L. Hamilton, one grandson, Samuel Y. Nimori, one son-in-law, Thomas B. Sneddon, two sisters, Vira Kennedy, Deanna Freeman and one brother, Garth Cash, her mother, Christina Marie Peterson, father, Vertress Cash and stepfather, Henry Peterson. Services will be held on Saturday, November 24, 2007 at 12:30 p.m. at Myers Mortuary Chapel, 205 S. 100 E., Brigham City. A viewing will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Mortuary. Interment will be in the Brigham City Cemetery. Shirleen has requested, a sincere and heart felt Thank You to all those caregivers and professional who helped her through this difficult time.
