RIVERDALE -- Shirley P. George passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on Thursday, September 27, 2012 at McKay-Dee Hospital in Ogden, Utah. She was born on June 25, 1943 in Rupert, Idaho, the daughter of Menno and Zelda Palmer Penner.
Shirley graduated from Ben Lomond High School class of 1961. She married Dallas K. George on March 8, 1963 in the Logan LDS Temple. He preceded her in death on March 11, 2007. They had many happy adventures together.
She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she served in various callings throughout her life, including working at the Ogden LDS Temple.
She worked for Weber County School District working with special needs children, retiring after 20 years.
She liked cooking, sewing and quilting. She loved camping and holidays spent with family together. She was a very loving grandma.
Surviving are her children: Derek (Carolyn) George, Laurie (Dean) Stuart, Dina (Clair) Judkins and Laren (Toni) George; 10 grandchildren ; siblings: Gary (Carol) Penner and Darlene (Roy) Rackham. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, October 2, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the LDS Chapel at 1056 W. 4400 S. Riverdale, UT. Family will greet friends on Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the church and on Tuesday, from 9:40 to 10:40 a.m. prior to services.
Interment will be at Evergreen Memorial Park, 100 N. Monroe Blvd., Ogden, Utah.
Arrangements under the direction of Myers Roy Mortuary.
