Shizuko Kay Hoffman Obituary (1931 - 2014)

BRIGHAM CITY - Shizuko K. Hoffman, passed away on December 12, 2014. Shiz was born on October 19, 1931 in Miyazaki, Japan, daughter of Sui Uge and Sadami Kawano. She met her sweetheart William H. Hoffman after the Korean War while he was serving in the U.S. Amy in Japan. They were married on January 7, 1955 in Fukuoka, Japan. Shortly after they were married they moved to the United States and made their home in Millersburg, Pennsylvania. While in the Army, they moved their family to Utah. On July 1, 1978 they were sealed in the Ogden Temple. Shiz was an active member of the LDS Church and worked in the Ogden Temple with her husband. She worked at the Brigham Sewing Center and as a hostess at Maddox Ranch House. Shiz liked to do embroidery and other various hand work, including making afghans. She loved planting flowers and gardening. Most of all she enjoyed watching Japanese Television, we all knew not to change the channel on her television. Surviving is her husband of almost sixty years Bill, children: Stephen (Angie) Hoffman of West Valley and Susan (Keith) Birch of Garland, as well as her sister Eiko Kawano of Japan. Preceded in death by her parents and sisters: Fusae, Kimie, Sadako, Keiko and brother Hatumi, and infant grandson William Andrew Birch. Funeral services will be Saturday, December 20, 2014 at 1:30 p.m. at Brigham City 19th Ward Chapel, 105 Fishburn, Brigham City, Utah. Friends may call Saturday, December 20, 2014 from 12:30 p.m. to 1:15 p.m. at the Church. Interment will be in the Brigham City Cemetery.
