Stanley William Strebel

ROY - Stanley William Strebel, 62, passed away peacefully Saturday, February 25, 2012 at the George Wahlen Veterans Home in Ogden surrounded by his loving family.

He was born June 5, 1949 in Ogden, Utah to Carl William Wolter and Grace Bernice Cunnington Strebel.

Dad married mom, Becky Yates on January 16, 1970 in Ogden, Utah. They later divorced.

He was a veteran in the Army who served in Korea during the Vietnam War.

Dad grew up in Ogden and spent the remainder of his life in Roy, Utah.

He graduated from Roy High School.

He was in the Civil Air patrol in Ogden and was a locomotive engineer for the Union Pacific Railroad for over 30 years. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to fly, scuba dive and golf. His greatest joy in life was his grandchildren, he was their Papa.

He is survived by his children: Casi (Brandon) Parker, Ashley (Ron) Johnson both of Roy; Britanee (Darren) Garner, Morgan; Desiree (Cory) Waters of West Haven; and 13 grandchildren. Also surviving his mother, sisters, Kathleen, Lark, Melanie and ex-wife, Becky.

He was preceded in death by his father and grandparents.

Special thanks to the George Wahlen Veterans Home for their loving care of Dad, they were amazing.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 1, 2012 at 11 a.m. at Myers Roy Mortuary, 5865 South 1900 West, Roy. A viewing will be held Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Thursday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. prior to services.

Interment, Roy City Cemetery where Military Honors will be accorded.
