Steve "Ben" Romero

With great sorrow, Steve Ben Romero passed away August 31 at home with his wife, Eileen, and granddaughter, Jessica, by his side.

Steve was born April 7, 1945 to Rumaldo Romero and Patricia Medina Romero Gonzalez in Del Norte, Colorado. On August 22, 1964, Steve married Eileen Ortega in Del Norte and from that union came two sons: Vince and Jesse Romero.

Steve was a man of many talents. His passion in life was music. Steve was 14 years old when his cousin, Lawrence Deleon taught him how to play the guitar. As years went by, Steve became a great musician who also played the bass guitar. Steve retired from music in 2015, leaving his bass guitar to his grandson, DeVon Romero, who will cherish it forever.

Steve lived his life on his own terms with a unique blend of wit and humility that made him truly unforgettable.

If you remember him as a grandfather, great grandfather, and great musician, you knew him to live life on his own accord and, fearlessly doing so, he maintained close friendships with so many people. Steve cherished those friendships deeply.

Steve is survived by his spouse, Eileen; son, Jesse; grandchildren: Jessica (Ladonis), Romero, Tiffani (Lorenzo) Garcia, Venessa (Chris) Romero, DeVon (Ana) Romero, Brittany (Carlos) Romero, Dillon (Oakleigh) Romero , and Kross Romero.

On behalf of his spouse, Eileen; son, Jesse; and the entire Romero family, we would like to thank all of the staff at Myers Mortuary, in Ogden, for all of the compassion and care given to both Vince and Steve and the hospice care for being there for the family and cring for Steve. Thank you to Holly and Julie for your caring, friendship, hugs, and support you gave us. You went far above and beyond; you are angels sent from Heaven to help heal a mourning family, and the friendship you showed Steve in his final days.

Steve's life will be celebrated at Myers Mortuary, 845 Washington Boulevard, Ogden, Utah on Tuesday, September 8, 2026 from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m., followed by a Rosary Service at 8:00 p.m. The funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church at 4050 South 3900 West, West Haven, Utah.
