Steve Wilson

–

Brigham City, Utah

Steve Dee Wilson, our beloved husband, father, grandfather, and loyal friend, passed away on August 20, 2026.
Steve was born on November 3, 1938, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Orville and Lenora Jerram Wilson. In 1960, Steve married Elizabeth Ann Fuller in Salt Lake City, Utah. They later divorced, and he married Janet McKellar on September 13, 1975. Steve and Janet spent over 50 loving years together, always holding hands.
Alongside his wife Janet, Steve had a passion for travel. He worked as a ticketing agent for Bonanza Air Lines and as a travel agent for Nomad Travel. Before he retired from American Express Travel, he opened his own travel agency: Plan-It-Earth Travel. His interests took him to Hong Kong, Kenya, Ireland, Spain, Australia, and Peru. He led multiple tours to Mazatlán, Mexico. He also traveled all over the United States and loved to share his love of travel with family and friends—and he made new friends everywhere he went.
Steve served in the Army and Army National Reserves from 1961-1965.
His other interests included gardening, history, and genealogy.
Steve was a world-class stamp collector. He was known in the stamp collector world for his first day of issue cachet covers under the name Wilson Covers.
Steve and Janet made their home in Salt Lake City, Utah, before retiring to St. George, Utah. For the last 20 years, they hosted many friends in their home there, volunteered at the Happy Factory, and took community classes at Utah Tech. Steve especially loved finding new hiking trails and exploring the city on his Segway. He always had a “good” dad joke to share.
He is survived by his wife, Janet Helen McKellar Wilson; children: Kip (Kelly) Wilson, Shawn “Spaz” (Michael Ann) Wilson, Kammy (Troy) Oakes, Nicole Wilson, McKel (Daniel) Jensen; 14 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
Steve was preceded in death by his parents and brothers: William, Orvin, and Dorell.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 27, 2026, at 10:30 a.m., at Myers Mortuary, 205 South 100 East, Brigham City, UT. A viewing will be held prior to the service from 9–10 a.m. Interment will be at the Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Salt Lake City.
