Sylmar "Bud" Thompson Wiser Obituary (1926 - 2014)

Sylmar "Bud" Thompson Wiser ROY - Sylmar Thompson Wiser, 88 passed Sunday, November 9, 2014 at Lotus Park Assisted Living in West Haven, Utah. He was born April 28, 1926 in Lewiston, Utah to Erwin D. and Wanda Thompson Wiser. Sylmar graduated from North Cache High School in 1944 and Utah State with Bachelors in Radio Electronics. He served in the Navy during World War II and in the Army during the Korean War. He married Karma Page on September 10, 1948 in the Salt Lake Temple and was a member of the Roy 5th Ward. Sylmar worked and retired from Hill Air Force Base. He enjoyed building model airplanes, snowmobiling, and snow skiing. He loved wood working and one of his favorite projects was the cabin he built in Island Park. He loved spending time at the cabin and being in the outdoors. Both Sylmar and Karma loved spending time with the youth and the youth were drawn to them. He is survived by his son, Jeff (Lesa) Wiser, daughter, Janet Wiser, grandchildren, Maddison and Carson Wiser and Michael Dickerson. Also surviving are siblings, Dee (Lorna) Wiser, Gordon (Eva Lou) Wiser, Denzel (Beverly) Wiser, Anita Raymond, and Burdette Wiser, also survived by many nieces and nephews, special friend, Naomi Taylor. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, sisters, Genevieve and Gwen and brother Robert. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the John M. Huntsman Cancer Institute, in Sylmar Wiser's name. Special thanks to Lotus Park Assisted Living and AFI Hospice Care for the wonderful care given to Sylmar, and to his neighbor LaMarr Hargis. Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 15, 2014 at 10 a.m. at the Roy 5th Ward, 2100 West 5300 South, Roy. A viewing will be held Friday from 6-8 p.m. at Myers Roy Mortuary, 5865 South 1900 West and Saturday at the church from 9 to 9:45 a.m. prior to services.
