Sylvester Edward Martin

Our beloved husband, father & grandfather, Sylvester Edward Martin, 75, went home to his father in heaven on Tuesday, November 20, 2007.

Sylvester was born January 5, 1932, in Monticello, Mississippi, a son of, Mr. Otha Martin and Ethel McClinton. He married Alice Virginia Flowers. They were later divorced. He married Jolene Mae Walker, July 5, 1991.

Sylvester was employed at H.A.F.B. for 39 years until his retirement in 1993. He was a former member of American Legion post # 66. He was a member of the New Zion Baptist Church. He loved fishing and gardening.

He is survived by his wife, Jolene of 16 years; four daughters, Debra George; Carla Martin; Shari Martin all of Washington Terrace, Lora (Kelvin) Steward of Ogden, one son, Calvard Lee Martin, New Mexico; one stepdaughter, Sandy (Matt) Johnston of Salt Lake City; one stepson, Marc Anthony Espinoza of Laredo, Texas. Also surviving are two sisters, Eva Nell Martin and Neotha Pace of Chicago. Nine grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Interment, Myers Evergreen Memorial Park.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, November 27, 2007 at Myers Mortuary in Ogden, 845 Washington Blvd., at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Michelle Boyer officiating. Friends may call on Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Myers Mortuary in Ogden, and on Tuesday from 11:45 to 12:45 p.m.
