Terrel Call Obituary (1932 - 2024)

Terrel Jay Call, 91, passed away January 3, 2024. Terrel was born June 29, 1932, in Ogden, Utah to Leonard Vosco Call and Mary Ellen (Christensen) Call. He grew up in Ogden, and later moved to Pleasant View then Salt Lake before moving back to Pleasant View in 1961. Terrel married Evelyn Johnsen in the Logan Temple on June 4, 1956, they have been together over 67 years. He graduated from Weber High School, attended Weber Academy, University of Utah and graduated from the National Fire Academy. Terrel served in the United States Army during the Korean War from 1952 to 1954 and received the rank of Sargeant. He worked at Marquardt on missiles, and at EK Bailey as a cabinet maker. He was a Pleasant View City Councilman, where he established the North View Fire Department in 1965 and was appointed Chief until he retired in 1993. Terrel was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was an ordinance worker at the Ogden Temple, missionary at the Conference Center and held many other church callings. Dad was an accomplished upholsterer and builder. He built cabinets, he built his homes, cedar chests for his daughters and many other beautiful things. He loved hunting and fishing. He was an avid golfer and had 4 holes in one. His last day of golfing was on his 90th birthday, he chipped in from 100 yards. He loved riding his ATV with his family. One of his favorite ATV trips was with his sons in Richfield. He spent many years with family and friends at Lake Powell. He loved going on cruises with his family. He leaves behind his loving wife Evelyn, children Larry Call, Leonard (Sharlene) Call, Susan (Brent) Eddy, Judy (Randy) Eddy, his brother Nilo (Marilyn) Call and sister-in-law Maurine Call. Also survived by 16 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers, 2 sisters and his great-grandson Oliver. A viewing will be held on Monday, January 8, 2024, at Myers Mortuary, 845 Washington Blvd., Ogden from 6 to 8 pm and on Tuesday, January 9th at the Pleasant View 17th Ward, 900 W. Pleasant View Drive from 9:40 to 10:40 am followed by funeral services at 11 am. Interment, Ben Lomond Cemetery. Special thanks to the staff at No. Ogden Lodge, his nurse Melissa, from Canyon Hospice and the staff of the V. A. Hospital.
