Tessie Kofoed Atkinson

NORTH OGDEN - Tessie Kofoed Atkinson, 90, passed away Wednesday, July 24, 2013 at the George E. Wahlen Veterans Home in Ogden, Utah.

She was born June 7, 1923 in Weston, Idaho to Rachel Machen and Arthur Augustus Kofoed who preceded her in death.

She was a member of the LDS church serving in various positions, her favorite being in the ward choir in her earlier years.

Her marriage and love affair with Grant Atkinson lasted for over fifty-five years until Grant passed away in 1995. They are now happily renewing that special relationship.

During World War II, Tessie was one of the "armed women guards accompanied by war dogs... on night patrol duty in the Utah army services forces depot warehouse area." She worked there in 1943-1944. She put in nineteen years of civil service working at the Arsenal and the Ogden Depot.

She has been a dedicated mother to both of her children Carolyn Atkinson (Marston) and Bruce Grant Atkinson. She has also been a loving grandmother to seven grandchildren and twelve-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one sister and three brothers, Zepha, Jedd, Quay, and Vern Kofoed. A great-great-granddaughter, Taigan Lynn Marston, also preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 3, 2013 at 11 a.m. at Myers Roy Mortuary, 5865 South 1900 West, Roy. A viewing will be held Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. prior to services.
