Thomas Archie Harper

–

Roy, Utah

Thomas Archie Harper died on October 21st, 2024, at the age of 80. The world lost one amazing man.
Thomas was born on August 24th, 1944, in Broadus, Montana. He was born in a small log cabin to Thomas Arthur and Thelma Irene Field. He was small enough to fit in a shoe box. He was the baby of 6. He grew up on a farm and was always getting into mischief. His parents were not sure if he was deaf because he would look up to see a plane before anyone could hear it. He was also known to bring baby skunks, snakes, and bugs home. He accidentally destroyed his mother's prize roses.
He attended the Montana School for the Deaf and Blind in Great Falls, Mt. He graduated in May 1963. He started working as an apprentice mechanic and autobody repair and paint. He worked as a mechanic for many years at Ken Boggs Chevrolet in Geraldine, MT. He was known for his amazing ability to figure out what was wrong with a car without hearing the sound. Many people admired his beautiful paintwork and pin striping. When he moved to Utah, he turned in his wrenches and paint brushes for diapers and a minivan. He got to be a stay-at-home dad and was amazing at it.
Tom married the love of his life, Sheila Rose Watkins, on March 17th, 1971, in Geraldine, MT. They were later sealed for time and all eternity on November 17th, 1986, in the Cardston Alberta Temple. Together, they had three children and adopted many along the way.
As a young man, he had many hobbies: raced snowmobiles and Volkswagen bugs turned into dune buggies. He loved to fish and camp with his wife. He loved flying R.C. Planes and did this for many years till his eyesight failed him. He had a sixth sense with animals; they all loved him dearly. There is not a thing that he could not fix. Later in life, he enjoyed doing puzzles and taking afternoon naps with his pug, Moose.
If Tom had a twinkle in his eyes and a smirk on his face, you would know he was up to something. His mind was always going and trying to come up with something to make you smile.
He is survived by his nap buddy Moose, his brother Jerry Harper (Marien) of Boise, Idaho; Sister Louise Neel of Brooker, Texas, his children Blair Roberts (Nikki Baird) of Toole Utah, Margie (David Pagano) of Roy Utah, Jessie (Brandon Waite) of Eagle Mountain Utah, R.R. Harper of Ogden Utah, Sarah Harper of Ogden Utah, his grandchildren, Aimee, Amanda (Jess), Isabella, Maximus (Emilee), McCormick, Specter (Makayla), Rhiverton, Blaizzer, AnaSophia, Zoey, Jack, Alex, many adopted more, his great-grandson Madden, and his many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his beautiful bride, Sheila Harper, His parents Thomas and Thelma Harper, Sister Dolores Johnson, Sister Janet Truchot, and granddaughter Lexy.
