Honeyville, UT

"T.D."

November 19, 1920
July 8, 2007

On a hot, calm, Sunday afternoon Thomas Donald Hunsaker peacefully passed away. Resting in his bed and feeling the love of his family, his mortal life yielded to the conditions incident to age. Dad was born on November 19, 1920 in Honeyville, Utah, the 5th child of LeGrande and Annie Hunsaker. His entire life was principally spent in the small town of Honeyville. He loved that town and over the years developed many wonderful relationships with neighbors and town folk.

He graduated from Box Elder High School and later attended Weber College. As a young man he served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS) in the Central States. Later he was drafted into the Army and served in New Guinea during the Pacific Campaign of World War II. While in the Army and on leave, he met his future wife Vilda Whetten at a church dance. Their courtship was swift and sweet and resulted in them being sealed in the Mesa, AZ temple on April 3, 1943. Blessed to this new union were six (6) children and from that twenty-seven (27) grandchildren and twenty-one (21) great-grandchildren.

T.D., as he was known to his friends and associates, was a devoted husband and father. He was extremely proud of his military service and often would get misty eyed when he saw a flag or sang the national anthem. Dad loved the Lord and served faithfully in many leadership and service positions in the Church. One of his greatest gifts to his children was the exemplary Christ-like life he lived. Dad lived by the words of his favorite hymn - "Have I Done Any Good?" After retiring from a civil service career at Hill Air Force Base, he and mother fulfilled two additional church missions in San Antonio, TX and Sacramento, CA; followed by seventeen (17) years of service in the Ogden Temple.

Dad leaves behind his most prized possessions; his family. Included herein his lovely wife Vilda, sons, Thomas (Lynne), Jerald, Jeffrey (Beverly) and daughters, Sandra, Christine and Jolene (Douglas). His grandson, Damien "Dax" Hunsaker, preceded him in death. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 12, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at the Honeyville 3rd Ward chapel with a viewing one-hour prior. Additionally, a viewing will be held at Myers Mortuary on Wednesday, July 11, 2007 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. located at 205 South 100 East, Brigham City, UT. Pursuant to Dad's request, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to the LDS general missionary fund.
