Tom Loftis, 81, returned home to his loving Heavenly Father on Saturday, March 5, 2022. He was born on June 5, 1940, to Julian Thomas and Martha Susan Ingram Loftis in Ozark County, Missouri. He graduated from Fremont High School in 1960 and received his associates degree from Condie College later in life.
Tom married the lovely Sheila Marie Von Niederhausern on January 2, 1980, in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. They had three sons and were married until her passing in December of 2006. He then married Carla Lavonne Thompson in the Ogden LDS Temple in 2007. They were married until her passing in May of 2021.
Tom was a dedicated employee to General Motors for 31 years in both Fremont, California, and Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, until he retired in 1991.
He loved his family above all else, but Tom's joys were found in photography and journaling. He loved to be around other people and could tell endless stories. He was always smiling and loved to camp, fish, boat, and even water skied in his younger days.
Tom was the most compassionate and forgiving man. He was very family centered, yet always took care of everyone around him. Tom would always try to make you smile and valued a quality conversation. He was our hero.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wives, and legions of ancestors awaiting his arrival.
Tom is survived by his sons: Thomas Mack Loftis (Jodi Lovell), Kelly Joe Loftis (Brooke Bell), and Jared Benjamin Loftis; sisters: Becky Robertson and Virginia Arbuckle; and seven grandchildren.
