Thomas ''Skip'' Ponder Obituary (1928 - 2003)

Thomas Clyde "Skip" Ponder, MSGT (RET) WASHINGTON TERRACE - Thomas Clyde "Skip" Ponder, age 75, began a new chapter on January 28, 2003, while surrounded by his loving family. He was born on January 3, 1928 in Marietta, Georgia to John William Thomas and Roxie Childers Ponder. In 1955 he married Janie Craven in Ogden, Utah. They were later divorced. Skip was a veteran of WW II, the Korean Conflict and Vietnam War. He honorably served his country for more than 24 years in the Merchant Marines and Army Air Corps, retiring from the United States Air Force in 1969. He had a great passion for sports (especially baseball) airplanes and history, none of which shown above the love he gave his family and friends. Skip is survived by one daughter and one son, Gayle (Harm) Williams, Ogden, Thomas "Tony" (Pam) Ponder of North Ogden, three grand children, Travis Benzley, Michelle (Mike) Johnson, Lindsay Ponder and nine great and step-great grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers Claude of Georgia, RL (Darlene) Ponder of Roy, and one sister Elsie of Georgia. His parents, one daughter Chrystine Lightfoot, one son Thomas Clyde Ponder Jr. and one brother Eugene preceded Skip in death. At Skip's request, no memorial service will be held. Dad, Grandpa, brother and friend, we dearly miss you. We will celebrate your life and honor your memory with timeless love that knows no bounds. Fly true to your heart until we meet again.
