Vergil Floyd Smith Obituary (1903 - 2003)

Vergil F. Smith 8/8/1903 - 9/15/2003 NO. OGDEN - Our beloved father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Vergil Floyd Smith, age 100, passed away Monday, September 15, 2003 in the presence of his family. He was born August 8, 1903 in Sycamore, Ozark County, MO, a son of Ezekiel and Nancy Smith. He married Lillian Azalee Alcorn on July 11, 1923 in Ozark County, MO. She passed away on February 28, 1987. He had resided in No. Ogden for 18 years. Prior to moving to Ogden he had been a resident of St. Joseph, MO for 42 years. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He retired from Swift and Co. of St. Joseph, MO. Surviving are his daughter and son-in-law, Ruth Valeria and Robert McCoppin; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Also surviving is one sister, Birdie Russell, 99, of West Plains, MO. He was preceded in death by his wife, ten brothers and sisters, and one daughter. The family is grateful to the staff of IHC Hospice for their concerned care.
