Victor David Wood, Phd.

NORTH OGDEN - On 7 October 2007 Victor David Wood, 84, husband, father, grandfather and friend, peacefully returned to the arms of a loving Father in Heaven and his loving family who have gone before him. Those he left behind know that this is a step in an Eternal Plan and that they will meet again.

While here on this earth he demonstrated generosity, love, and caring for all who came in contact with this special spirit. He knew no enemy and his warm accepting smile and sense of humor earned him the reputation of the gentle, gentle man.

Victor is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and resides in the Pleasant View 3rd Ward. Over the years he served in the Bishopric, the High Priest Group Leadership and many other assignments. He enjoyed all of his callings but his first love was choir director. He served as choir director over thirty years. He also wrote choir music, which the choirs enjoyed as well as those for whom they performed.

Victor was an educatora"teacher, counselor, and administrator. He loved teaching and taught for forty-nine and a half years before reluctantly retiring. He served a year and a half in Delaware, three years in Rupert, Idaho, thirty years in the Clark County School District in Las Vegas, Nevada and then another fifteen years at the Applied Technology College in Ogden. Twice he was president of Phi Delta Kappa, an International Honorary Fraternity for men in Education.

He received his education at the University of Delaware, Utah State University, and University of Southern California where he completed Doctoral studies.

Over the years he had many special interests beyond directing and writing music. He was a fine wood craftsman and built grandfather clocks for many people along with the kitchen cabinets in his home. He loved silver and gold smithery, making jewelry for his family and friends. Writing poetry and stories was also a loving past time.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Joseph and Agnes Biorn Wood of Soda Springs, Idaho; three brothers and seven sisters. Surviving are his wife Bernadean Tomlinson Wood and two daughters, Chrisi Lynne Wood of Ogden, Utah and Nancy Leigh Griffin of Las Vegas, Nevada; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He is dearly loved and will be sorely missed by all who knew him.

Funeral services will be held Friday, October 12, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at the Pleasant View 3rd Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 3602 N. 500 W. (Weber High Drive).
