Vilate (Val) Taylor Hardee Vilate Taylor Hardee died January 18, 2003, in Pensacola, Florida, her home for the past 16 years. She was born July 18, 1914, a daughter of Leslie Taylor and Kittie Painter Taylor. She grew up and attended schools in Utah and California. Vilate married Joe T. Hardee July 9, 1944. They were a truly devoted couple. Together they enjoyed travel abroad and in the U.S., and resided in several states. She was a member of the LDS church, and was known for her kindness to the missionaries who served in the areas where she lived. Vilate was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt. She was a loyal and steadfast friend and maintained lifelong friendships in the many places she lived. She was an outstanding hostess, an expert cook, and enjoyed entertaining friends and family. Her beautiful home reflected her skill and talent in needlework and her taste in fine antiques. She was a lifelong learner and enjoyed reading and the arts. Vilate is survived by her husband, Joe Hardee, Pensacola; her son, Michael Hardee (and Margaret) of Maryland; her daughter, Beverly Elkington (and Calvin) of Salt Lake City. She also leaves five grandchildren; five great-grandsons; her sister, Anita Taylor Wilson, Ogden; and her aunt, Lila Hinchcliff, Ogden. She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Evelyn Taylor Cross, Ogden; and a great-granddaughter, Emileigh, Salt Lake City.
