Violet Matilda Hammer Campbell

SUNSET-Violet M. Hammer Campbell, age 85, passed away December 23, 2007 at the home of her daughter in Sunset, UT of congestive heart failure following surgery.

Violet was born May 22, 1922 in Brigham City, UT a daughter of Lewis and Chloe Hammer, the seventh of ten children. Violet married James Weston Campbell on November 22, 1940. They later divorced.

She worked at St. Benedicts Hospital in the nursery for many years. She also worked for Hercules Inc. as a Security Guard until her retirement.

Violet is survived by six children, Laura Covey of Heber City, UT; Kathleen (Joe) Gurule of Sunset, UT; Bernice (Mick) Burroughs of South Ogden, UT; Judy Sheehan (Ron Thomas) of Clinton, UT; Kevin (Lori) Campbell of Plain City, UT; Karla (Robert) Jeppesen of Perry, UT. She has 35 grandchildren, 79 great grandchildren and 15 great great grandchildren. She is also survived by three sisters and one brother, Iretta May, Logan, UT, Darleen Cheney, Roy, UT, Dorthea (Farrell) Dearden, So. Ogden, UT and Cliff (Wanda) Hammer, Roy, UT.

Violet was preceded in death by her daughter Marie Hansen; her parents; three sisters and two brothers, Jeanette Fultz, Jenny Jensen, Blanche Cornett, Golden Hammer and Lewis Hammer.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 29, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. at Myers Mortuary in Ogden, 845 Washington Blvd. Friends may call at the mortuary, Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. prior to the service.
