John Knight Jr. Click here to listen to Funeral Recording Ogden - Waldron John Knight Jr., was reunited with his sweetheart and eternal companion, Ruth, on January 27, 2015. He was born August 12, 1926, in Ogden to Waldron John Knight Sr. and Eva Dalton Knight. John married Ruth Myrtle Stratford on June 12, 1945 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He knew he wanted to marry Ruth the minute he saw her. They enjoyed 67 years of marriage until her passing in December 2013. He lived in Ogden his entire life and graduated from Ogden High School and DeVry Technical Institute. John was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and served in many callings including Bishoprics, High Council and Young Men. He most enjoyed his time serving in the Bishopric of a Young Single Adult Ward and as a teacher of the gospel. He worked as a field service engineer for Pitney-Bowes for 32 years retiring in 1988. John swam every morning at the Deseret Gym for many years. He enjoyed sports of all kinds, oil painting, photography, genealogy, electronics and attending the temple. He loved music, especially big band and classical. A special thanks to the aides and staff of Chancellor Gardens of Clearfield and Caregivers Support Network (Hospice). John is survived by his children, Diane (Tom) Weir, Kaysville; David (Betty) Knight, Waddell, AZ; Jeanne (David) Lott, Salt Lake City; Timothy (Sheryl) Knight, Riverdale; 12 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Ruth. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, January 31, 2015, at Myers Mortuary in Ogden, 845 Washington Blvd. Friends may call at the mortuary on Friday from 6:30 -8 p.m. and on Saturday from 11:45- 12:45 p.m. Interment, Myers Evergreen Memorial Park.
