WALTER RALEIGH EDDY

ROY -- Our beloved father and friend, Walter Raleigh Eddya""Walt," 85, of Roy died Friday, November 18, 2005 at home.

Born July 9, 1920 in Ogden, the ninth of eleven children of William Eddy and Rika Schutte, Walt attended Ogden City schools until his father died. Thereafter Walt worked to help provide for his family until joining the Marines during WWII. He served in the South Pacifica"earning a Purple Heart. He married Nola Thompson June 16, 1946 in Ogden. Nola died May 25, 1968. Together they had three children, Marsha L. Harris of Roy, Walter R. (Shelley) Eddy, Jr. of Layton, and Kim J. Eddy of Roy. Walt and Nola with their children lived in Clearfield and Sunset.

Walt married Rita McCulloch January 1, 1971 in Las Vegas. They lived in Roy. Rita died in July 2002. Their blended family included the children listed above and Rita's children, Diana (Dennis) Griffin of Roy, Judy (Mark, deceased) Smith of Hooper, Dennis (Bonnie) Olson of Huntsville, and Sandie Bowles of Las Vegas. Walt had 22 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.

Walt retired from civil service, having worked as an aircraft mechanic and supervisor at HAFB, retiring in 1975. After retirement, Walt and Rita enjoyed warm winters in Yuma for about 20 years.

Over the years Walt remodeled, maintained and improved family homes, fished, camped and vacationed with family, played table and yard games, and played with childrena"primarily his children and grandchildren, who felt his love and will always remember his devotion to their happiness.
