Wayne A Vause Obituary (1920 - 2009)

Wayne A. Vause Farr West - Wayne A. Vause, 89, beloved husband, father and grandfather, quietly passed from this life on Sunday, September 13, 2009, surrounded by his family. He was born June 1, 1920, to Ralph O. Vause and Clara L. Williams. The family lived in Ogden until 1930 when they moved to Farr West. He attended grade school in Ogden City and Farr West, graduating from Weber High in 1938. He also attended Weber College. In November 1940, Wayne started work for Western Electric Company, later working for Defense Depot Ogden Utah (DDOU) until he entered the U.S. Army Air Force in May 1943. During the war, he served his country honorably until released from duty in 1946. In February 1946, he returned to DDOU working in telecommunications. He retired as the Telecommunications Foreman after 30 years of government service. Wayne married DonNa Nuhn of Avon, Utah on July 31, 1943, in Amarillo Texas. The marriage was solemnized in the Logan Temple on January 28, 1944. Together they built their own home in Farr West and lovingly raised four sons and two daughters. DonNa died on October 29, 1986 after 43 years of marriage. Wayne married Gladys Pratt Ericson on May 9, 1987. They were companions for 23 years and enjoyed retirement together traveling, square dancing, and enjoying their grandchildren. Wayne loved playing golf, camping, fishing, hunting, farming and horseback riding. His children cherish the memories of doing these activities together. He taught them to drive a team of horses, haul hay, care for farm animals, work in the garden, and to have fun together. Some of their best memories are of camping in the wilderness as a family. He taught his children to love, to prize integrity and to hold high values. He was active in the LDS Church serving in the bishopric of the Farr West Ward, as a Sunday School teacher, Priesthood Quorum leader, and in both Ward and Stake Sunday School Presidencies. He served as a Boy Scout and Explorer leader for many years and as a Home Teacher for over fifty years. He is survived by his wife, Gladys Pratt Vause, a brother Harold Vause (Deon), Farr West; five children, Mark W. Vause (Angela), Boise, ID; Eileen Vause Moore (Ross), North Ogden; Deonna Vause Johnson (Evan), Enterprise, UT; Brad N. Vause (Sharon), Eden; and Michael D. Vause (Janet), Pleasant View; four stepchildren; 32 grandchildren, 46 great-grandchildren, 24 step-grandchildren, and three great-great step-grandchildren. Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, DonNa Nuhn Vause, and his son Jeffrey L. Vause (Cheryl), St. George. The family wishes to send a special thanks to Dr. Steven Wynn, North Ogden Intermountain Health Care, for his concern, unhurried manner, and kindness in caring for Wayne. A viewing will be held at the Ogden Myers Mortuary, 845 Washington Boulevard, Friday, September 18, 2009, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 19, 2009, at 1:00 pm in the Farr West Chapel, located at 2123 North 2000 West, Farr West, Utah. Prior to the funeral, an additional viewing will be held Saturday, from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm. Interment will be in the Plain City Cemetery where Military Honors will be accorded.
